Buffy Swap 2011

1) What kind of crafting do you do? Knitting and Crochet are my main crafts, I make stitch markers, use polymer clay, can sew, spin with a drop spindle if I find the time, do paper crafts… a little bit of everything LOL
2) Fav colors/combinations black with deep red, purple or other dark, rich colours
3) Least favorite colors PINK and pastels, can’t stand them
4) Favorite fibers/yarns Alpaca
5) List some Small items you would like to have stitch markers, tape measure, folding scissors, pretty crochet hooks
7) Things you don’t need or want toys – unless you include them for my 7 year old boy. He stole all the ones I got in the last swap
8.) List as many sizes as you can My measurements are on my blog, I’ll update this site with all the questions from here and other swaps and update it regularly to reflect current wishes
9) What is something you would like to receive in this swap? (keep price limits in mind) I’m easy to please – as long as it is connected to Buffy/Angel somehow I’m sure I’ll like it. Socks, shawls and fingerless mitts (the first with wool, the two latter without please) will always get used a lot
10) Would you like the package to be a more detailed buffy theme or random buffy? I don’t mind either way
11) Where do you stand on things like make up, nail polish, jewelry, and hair items? I can’t use much make up due to allergies, but I love nail polish – especially brands that are hard to get in Germany like Essie, OPI, Sephora by OPI, China Glaze… but I’m no snob, I’ll take inexpensive ones as well, especially if they are in a gorgeous shade of red or purple. For Jewellery I like necklaces of all sorts and bracelets, will wear earrings when I go out (allergies force me to wear titanium studs for the rest of the time), but I rarely wear rings. Hair items like bobby pins and combs etc are welcome, I have long hair
12) Do you have any hobbies (other then fiber ones lol ex: reading, writing, photography, drawing ect.) I like to read, so books (used or new) and bookmarks are always welcome.
13) Do you have pets or children who like to receive little things as well? My 7 year old boy would love to receive a little something like some candy that’s just for him or a little toy – he loves pirates and knights, but vampires are cool too. Last time he didn’t just steal the kitten and the bunny I got, but my Mr. Pointy as well…
14) List anything else you think useful (we want your partner to have as much to go on as possible in order to make your package amazing and just right for you! ) Read my blog site that I made for swaps. It has links to wish lists and a lot of info about what I like and dislike – as well as questions from this, other current and past swaps. That should give you plenty of information to work with
15) Do you promise to b a good partner, fulfill all obligations, and send out a package made with just as much time care and love as the one you would like to receive? I do, making a nice package for someone is so much fun

What kinds of handmade items would you like to receive? Like if you live in a cold area, are there things that you need/want. If you live in a hot area, are fingerless mitts a bad idea? Do you like toys, socks, useful things?Probably no toys, my son “borrowed” all I got in the last swap… otherwise I like all kinds of handmade items, just please don’t use wool or mohair for anything I wear on my skin (except for socks, wool is fine there for some unknown reason). It would be great if it was something I don’t do myself, like embroidery/cross stitch or if it’s knitting I’d love to get some colourwork – I tried, but I’m still fighting with it. But that’s not a must, I’m really easy to please. Just let me see that you put some thought in it and I’ll like it
Would you like to get some Buffy DVD’s, books or comics? If yes, what do you have or what do you want? I have all the Buffy and Angel DVDs, but no books or comics so far and would love to receive them
Do I collect anything? yes, dragons and things with dragons on them… just no sprakly, glittery dragons please, but everything from cute to scary goes
Do you have any specifications for how you like you gloves, socks, hats or shawls? i.e. length, thickness, materials For hats, I prefer ones with a brim, I just don’t like how I look in others… For all other items, no specifications except no wool – sizes can be found above the questions in this post
How do you feel about blingy, sparkly, or other “novelty” yarns? Not just typical novelties like fun fur, but also those with stellina content (Blue Heron Rayon Metallic, DIC Starry, Stroll Glimmer) or other “additives.”Sparkly can be nice – but no fun fur or eyelash yarn for me please – unless it is something like an amigurumi and the yarn just fits for hair/fur or such
Do you like/will you use straight knitting needles? Are you a circ only fan? How bout DPNs? I like circs and dpns… straights not so much… and I prefer KnitPicks Harmony, for circs just the tips would be great too as I’m starting a collection of the interchangeables
If you have a pattern book (or any book) on a wishlist, will you accept a gently used version?sure, I don’t mind used books of any variety, pattern books are no exception there. As long as they are still in one piece and not written into they are fine
Would you like your swap partner to knit/crochet/create something out of your favorites, or should we leave that stuff to you? I would love to receive something from my favourites or wish list – doesn’t mean that I can’t make another version of it if I want to. But feel free to chose any pattern you think goes with your package and suits my tastes, even if it isn’t in my favs/wish list
Edited to add: I have a tag “iwantthis” for favourites, those are items I’d like to receive. Other things might be in there to be used for swaps or made as gifts
Would you mind receiving yarn that is new but already wound into a cake  /ball? How about unused leftovers? I don’t mind pre-wound yarn, but skeins are fine too. And if there is some left over, it could be quite handy to get it – you never know when you have to fix something or probably I can make a matching something. So send them, if you can’t or don’t want to use them yourself
Would you like to receive something by/starring a cast/crew member of Buffy? For example and SMG film, other Joss project etc? Depends… I already have a lot of James Marsters music and Christian Kane music – but if you could get a hold of some Ghost of the Robot, I’d love you forever. I already own the Firefly and Dr. Horrible DVDs, but not the Serenity movie or Dollhouse or V, so anything of those would be great – and yes, I’d love to get them as used versions as long as they are in a good condition. And please don’t forget, I need DVDs that work in Europe, I don’t have a region free player

What do you think about this design (not necessarily on a shirt, but something similar on a handmade item)? And if you like it, on what kind of item could you imagine it?It’s “And then Buffy staked Edward – The End” in case the picture doesn’t work or stops working at some point

I would like to receive a bag (either project bag or handbag/messenger bag) with that sentence on it, possibly a sofa cushion… and I’d take the shirt too, handmade or store bought
What width/length do you prefer your scarves? no preference on width, length should be at least enough to wrap around my neck once, longer is fine too. But keep in mind, I’m short, so don’t make it too long, don’t want to trip over it. Don’t like cowls too much
Do you need coasters or pot holders? Have more than enough coasters, but pot holders are always welcome.
Would you rather have more handknit items or more purchased goods? I’m happy with both, it really depends on how much time my spoiler has for making things or how much money they are able to spend… I don’t mind more handmade to make up for less store bought, sometimes money suddenly is tighter than you thought before. But I’m just as happy with one handmade item, as long as everything is thought through I’m happy, no matter what I’ll receive. Just try to keep my likes and dislikes in mind, then it will be fine
Do you have anything you want a cozy for? I think for this swap I’ll say no… don’t want to end up with too many cozies and I don’t really need one for anything
If you have indicated that you would like an item for someone else, such as child, do they have any allergies to take into consideration? My son has no allergies I know of – but he doesn’t like wool on his skin unless it is really, really soft – he says it itches, but his skin doesn’t show a reaction. But better safe than sorry… And he doesn’t like to eat liquorice or dark chocolate

How do you feel about cross stitch? How about decoupage? I like both, as long as I don’t have to do it myself… hate to do cross stitch and don’t want to add yet another craft with decoupage
If you said you’d like jewelry, make-up, and or hair items…. what kind would you enjoy best? probably a necklace, bracelet, hair comb or shawl pin would be best…. for make up please just nail polish as I’m allergic to a lot of things, so I try to stick to the same brands
Are you a tee shirt kind of person? If so, what size? Any no-no colors? I like tees… a Woman’s M-L please, depending on how big they run. I usually wear M, but for teefury etc I have to order L as they run small and shrink in the wash. I have to wear a women’s size, men’s shirts are way too long on me and look horrible. I mostly wear dark colours like black, dark grey, dark red, purple, but any dark colour is fine, but please no white, pink or pastels.
If you were Spike or Buffy, what would you have written on your knucks Bite me… or little crosses against vampires…
is there a yarn brand that you’ve tried that you just don’t like. Even though it seems fairly popular? nothing that I tried… never bought Noro because it feels scratchy. But as I can’t wear wool, Noro might be a bad choice anyway

Do you like any particular patterns, such as stripes, leopard print etc? I’m not too fond of animal prints of all kind, otherwise most patterns are fine. Nothing I’d prefer over everything else though
How do you feel about badges/buttons and keyrings? I love badges… and could use another keyring if it is something especially nice
All you spinners out there, do you like to spin from a batt or would you want it diz’d into roving? both is fine for me
