Abotanicity

… das ist das Geräusch meiner Stricknadeln, die unermüdlich vor sich hin klappern – zumindest sollten sie das. Ich habe nämlich schon wieder etwas neues angefangen, auch wenn ich noch jede Menge andere Projekte in Arbeit habe. Mein neuestes Werk ist der Abotanicity Pullover aus der Knitty Winter 2007, allerdings nehme ich wegen meiner Allergie keine Sockenwolle sondern Zitron Savanna. Bis jetzt sieht das Bild ja noch nicht besonders beeindruckend aus, ich habe aber auch erst vor 2 Tagen mit dem Pullover angefangen. Und außerdem bemerke ich gerade, dass ich den Pulli für das Foto mit der Innenseite nach oben gelegt habe.

… that’s the sound of my knitting needles, working without a pause – at least that’s how it should be. I’ve started yet another project, even if I have a lot of WIPs still waiting to be finished. Fresh on my needles is the Abotanicity sweater from Knitty Winter 2007, but I’m not using sockyarn because of my allergies, but Zitron Savanna. So far it doesn’t look like much on the pic, but I just started 2 days ago. And I just realized that I photographed the sweater inside out.

Außerdem habe ich mehrere Paar Socken in Arbeit, zu aller erst einmal ein Paar Gothic Spire Socks nach einer Anleitung von Cookie A. aus Blue Moons Fiber Arts Sockengarn in ‘Valkyrie’ – ein Garn aus dem ‘Raven Clan’ Sortiment. Hier habe ich seit fast einem Jahr die erste Socke fertig und von der zweiten gerade mal das Bündchen gestrickt. So toll das Muster aussieht und so sehr ich das Garn mag, das Muster macht einfach keinen Spass zu stricken. Ich werde wohl nie ein Freund davon werden, meine Maschen zu umwickeln und danach abzustricken.

I have several pairs of socks on the needles, first of all a pair of Gothic Spire Socks by Cookie A. The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts sock yarn in ‘Valkyrie’ – one of the colourways from their Raven Clan yarns. The first sock is finished for almost a year now and the ribbing of sock #2 is done. As beautiful as the pattern is and as much as I like the yarn, I just don’t enjoy to knit this pattern. I’ll never love to wrap my yarn around the stitches before knitting them.

Costa Socks

Dann wären da noch die Costa Socks (Link zu Ravelry, kann nur von Mitgliedern bei Ravelry gesehen werden) von Wendy Johnson, die ich für meinen Vater stricken wollte. Die sollten eigentlich schon letztes Weihnachten fertig sein, dann konnte ich aber wegen Allergie und Husten nicht weiter stricken. Und irgendwie sind sie dann liegen geblieben, obwohl ich mit der zweiten Socke schon fast zur Hälfte fertig bin. Jetzt hoffe ich mal, dass ich sie wenigstens bis dieses Jahr an Weihnachten fertig habe und verschenken kann.

Then there are the Costa Socks (link to Ravelry, can only be seen for Ravelry members) by Wendy Johnson, I planned to knit for my dad. They were supposed to be finished last Christmas, but then I had to stop knitting them because of my allergies and a bad cough. And somehow they kept lying around, even if I’m halfway done with the second sock. Now I hope to get them done in time for Christmas this year so I can give them to my dad.

Sampler Socks

Letztes Sockenpaar sind Sampler Socks von Yuliya Sullivan aus Sockina Cotton. Das war mein erster Versuch, 2 Socken gleichzeitig zu stricken und ich bin nicht viel weiter gekommen als auf dem Foto zu sehen. Damit ich hier endlich Fortschritte mache, werde ich sie wohl doch einzeln zu Ende stricken, sonst wird das auch noch eines dieser Projekte die ewig herum liegen. Und das war noch lange nicht alles, ich habe noch mehr Strick- und Häkelprojekte in Arbeite, über die ich aber ein anderes Mal berichten werde.

Last pair of socks are Sampler Socks by Yuliya Sullivan knit with Sockina Cotton. They were my first try at knitting two socks at once and I didn’t make much more progress than you can see on the photo. As I want to finish them sometime soon, I’ll try to knit them separately or they will be one of those projects that’s not making any progress in forever. And that’s not everything I have in progress, I’ve got some more knitting and crochet projects. But I’ll talk about them another time.
